Gardena (Calif.) Serra 2020 cornerback Macen Williams will be one of the top defensive backs in the region in his class.
Williams has an early offer from Nevada, where his father played.
“Nevada offered and that meant a lot,” said Williams. “I liked the environment up there. Coach (Courtney) Viney offered and he’s real cool.”
Williams has been hearing from a number of Pac-12 schools.
“Washington, Stanford, Cal, USC and UCLA mainly,” said Williams. “Plus LSU, Houston and Fresno State. I like LSU a lot.”
The two Los Angeles schools have had Williams on campus, with one really standing out to him.
“I checked them both out,” said Williams. “USC has always been a dream school for me.”
Williams can play either corner or nickel and said he’s working at both this offseason when playing for Premium Sports’ 2020 7v7 Team.
The 5-10, 155-pounder, is also watching the recruiting process closely with his older brother Max Williams, a 2019 four-star, going through it too.
“I’m going to try and visit schools with him so I can learn more,” said Williams.
If the opportunity to play with his brother in college presents itself, Williams said it would be tough to pass on.
“We would definitely be interested in that,” said Williams.
Last weekend at the U.S. Army National Combine, Williams was one of the top 2020 defensive backs we saw in attendance.
